The son of a clothing store operator in Hoboken, NJ. "Smiley's" father was a member of the Bronanno "family" until his untimely death over a disagreement involving too much starch in a shirt. "Smiley" has played music most of his life after being taught to play the mandolin and sing by the boys’ dear mother. "Smiley" worked in his father's clothing store from the time he was big enough to reach the cash register. Knowing how dangerous the clothing business can be Ruby Anne (the boy's mother) convinced him to go south to Hattie Scat and work with Judge Talford. "Smiley" doesn't speak much, but when he does you should listen, it could be a life changing experience.
Buddy Mason, aka "Vinny the Cane"
The son of a popular night club owner and also one of the members of the Bronanno "family", Vinny's father disappeared one night after leaving his place of business and was never seen or heard from again. Fearing "Vinny" would meet the same fate as his father, Ruby Anne talked "Vinny" into moving down south to Hattie Scat to work with Judge Talford. "Vinny" has been playing music and singing most all his life after being taught to play the guitar and sing by the boys’ dear mother. "Vinny" is known for his cane that he carries. It was the only trace of his dad that was ever found.
Wayne Clemons, aka "Slick"
"Slick" was born the son of a candy store operator. His father was also a former Bronanno "family" member. "Slick’s" father was accidentally run over while making a candy delivery to the bank. We never quite understood why he was making a delivery to the bank or why they were in such a hurry to leave. Like his brothers, "Slick" has played music most of his life after being taught to play bass and sing by the boys’ dear mother. "Slick" worked in his father's candy store for a number of years. He even developed his own brand of chewing gum, "Slick Stick". He, too, calls Hattie Scat home.
Markus Stadler, aka "Munich"
Munich was born somewhere in Germany. He hopped a boat in the year 1999 and made it all the way to New York. Ruby Anne met him one day on the streets of Hoboken and took him in. After living with the family for a while Ruby Anne decided to adopt "Munich", so at the age of 22 he became the boys’ new baby brother. "Munich" caught on to the music very fast . He plays many instruments including the banjo and Dobro. “Munich” has also adapted quite well to life in Hattie Scat, you can hear a little southern drawl in his German accent.
Emory Beachy, aka "The Barber"
"The Barber" is the full blooded brother of "Slick”. "The Barber" never liked the candy business; he was always interested in fast cars and machinery. He also never took to the music very much. At a young age he began working in a mechanic shop learning how to fix cars and how to make them faster. Ruby Anne wanted "The Barber" to move with his brothers to Hattie Scat, so he agreed and now is learning the art of fixing tractors and farm equipment. He gets his nickname because he fancies himself a barber. The only one brave enough to let him cut their hair is "Slick".
